Apple Compote Recipe

Nothing is easier than applesauce! Quickly discover this irresistible recipe.

Whether in apple turnovers or apple pie, applesauce is a kitchen classic to know by heart! And we assure you immediately: it is a real breeze. You will definitely need apples and that’s (almost) all! It can be flavored with cinnamon, honey or vanilla, add sugar or not, mix it finely or put a few pieces. It’s really as you want! So, shall we make some compote? Recipe applesauce


  • 1.5 kg of apples
  • 2 packets of vanilla sugar
  • 1 vanilla pod
  • a little water
  • lemon (optional)



Peel and core the apples. their dice (it doesn’t matter if not regular). Sprinkle with lemon juice to prevent apples from browning (optional).


Place the apple slices in a saucepan and add the vanilla sugar and seeds from the vanilla pod. Pour a little water in the bottom of the pan.


Cook over low heat, covered (or not) for about twenty minutes, stirring occasionally.


When the apples are very tender, reduce them to a compote, leaving the slices or not.


Let applesauce cool before serving!

Chef’s tip

Here, we chose vanilla to flavor the compote but you can sprinkle a little cinnamon for fun. If your apples aren’t naturally sweet, feel free to add a little more sweetness.
