The magazine “#Investigation” (RTBF) points to the responsibility of the Belgian chemical group for the contamination with “PFAS”, those molecules associated with the eternal pollutants. A topic on which Solvay has closed its communication.

PFAS. Or perfluorinated in French. Consider this family of molecules derived from the chemistry of fluorine and carbon, whose widespread use by the chemical industry is due to their main property: very high stability, which makes them resistant to very high temperatures and, in particular, impermeable (see elsewhere). The other side of the coin is known: this stability makes the existence of these molecules almost permanent and generates, as soon as they are dispersed in the environment, pollution that tends to accumulate. And this, including in the body of people who are regularly exposed to it.
