“Ciao boys! At Restaurant Carmelo at 7 rue Neuve (Lyon 2nd), the tone is quickly set. The waiters play with their Italian accent to lift the mood of the customers, the decoration is colorful and atypical, and the smell of truffles invades all floors.
A concept that hits the mark
But you often have to wait a long time outside before you can sit down in this Italian trattoria. The Big Mamma concept has been a hit since arriving on Presqu’Île in February 2020 and Carmelo is regularly booked up.

Right from the entrance, the decoration works spectacularly, old-fashioned candy jars, old Italian posters, black and white photos that flood the walls or even traditional plates up to the ceiling, Carmelo dazzles its customers.
Pasta, pizza and everything
There is no paper menu at Big Mamma, “we prefer a digital version instead of printing thousands of menus, which are certainly very beautiful and very cool, but which are just bad for the planet,” the sign shows.
And gourmets risk lingering on the menu for a while before making a choice. Carpaccio, burrata, mortadella, pasta, pizza and tutti quanti, without a doubt, smells like Italy.
The legendary pasta with truffles
The flagship product: the mythical truffle pasta served in a pot. Price: 19.50 euros. Carmelo also offers pizzas, Margherita, Marinara, four cheeses or even with truffles, there is something for everyone. Prices: between 12.50 and 19.50 euros.

The Big Mamma group also has another restaurant in the capital of Gaul: Napoli Gang, located at 45 rue Desaix (Lyon 3rd). Their specialty: pizza.
