We tested I Grappoli, a delicious Italian canteen with bucolic decor!

Surrounded by vines and ivy in a restaurant in the form of a wine cellar with exposed stone walls, we almost have the impression that we have left Paris to take a detour to Tuscany… However, we are really in the capital, in the 14th century area! This address that made us feel out of place was I Grappoli and we tested it for you!

If you are looking for a real Italian trattoria where you can feel away from Paris for an evening, we have the address for you: I Grappoli! In the quiet part of Place Denfert-Rochereau, near Rue Froidevaux opposite a tree-lined square, one already has the impression of stepping into a small Italian town, protected from the hustle and bustle of the capital. And when you walk through the doors of this canteen in the 14th arrondissement, the Italian countryside opens up before us… Bordeaux red banquettes, ivy and exposed stones, a pizza corner with a real impressive oven and the promise of a traditional menu full of Boot specialties. As starters, classic dishes such as burrata, bruschetta, fried mozzarella and assortments of Italian cold cuts and cheeses. In the dishes, lovers of Italian cuisine will find what they are looking for with a selection of the best that Italy has to offer us: pasta, pizzas and other dishes around an extensive wine list and creative cocktails revisited in Italian.

I Grappoli: our verdict

To discover this Italian menu, we turned to the two classics exported by the country’s gastronomy: pizzas and pasta. On a hand-kneaded dough, baked to perfection in a wood-fired oven, fresh ingredients make for a pizza that can seriously enter the argument for the best in the capital. On the pasta side, casarecchi slathered in a delicious creamy gorgonzola sauce over a canapĂ© of pears and arugula and sprinkled with pistachios transported us straight to the other side of the Italian border. For dessert, a sumptuous panna cotta with mango coulis and gourmet and creamy tiramisu come to complete this Italian journey… After this culinary escapade, it’s time to return to Paris and we have only one wish: to let our taste buds transport us back to Tuscany , Sicily or Campania.
