“Come for the show and stay for the pizza.” Translation: come for the show and stay for the pizza. This is the slogan that Amafolia displays on its social networks and even on one of its entrance walls. From Wednesday 24 August 2022, this new restaurant inspired by New York and Paris opens its doors in Balma (Haute-Garonne), near Toulouse.
About a ten-minute walk from the Balma Gramont metro station, this new establishment will offer its customers an Italian brasserie of the past in a “modern” and “celebratory” atmosphere. Pasta, pizza, burger, tartar… but also DJ and afterwork.
5 heads of controls
At the design stage there are five 100% restaurateurs from Toulouse who have joined forces for the first time for this project: Mayol, Adrienne Lates, Lucas Chestnut, Ludovic Sonnemann and Ludovic Lumbroso. Among the places that some already have in the city, we find: the Racine guinguette, the Horizon barge, La Tantina de la Playa or Les Halles de la cité… A well-knit team rooted in the territory that played on its complementarity to shape the identity of this place.
“We decided to come and set up in Balma to allow people who no longer want to go downtown to eat, to have a restaurant here. In the industrial area of Balma, we found a place where there was an old supermarket and demolished everything. So we started from scratch on this project. We wanted to paint exactly what we wanted to see as a restaurant.”
The discovery of this concept
As you enter, an impressive terrace opens up with approx 220 outdoor seats. Nestled among the vegetation and pine trees, the modern and bright decoration seduces.
For the next winter, the terrace will be closed and heated.
Inside, the decor follows the lines of the exterior. A chic setting, modern furniture, a glowing lamp… and background music chosen according to the client. “We can offer jazz, lounge, electro, he explains Ludovic Sonnemann, but we adapt above all to the clientele. If there are families, we will not install electricity, for that we will wait longer than if there are groups of young people. »
The interior has 180 seats.
Put in the menu
On the menu side, Amafolia Food and Fire wants to be Italian beer hall. Therefore, the restaurant will offer Italian dishes such as pasta and pizza, but also burgers or even tartares. “We offer classic dishes, but which will be homemade, he trusts Adrian Latte. Everything is made from fresh quality products that we will receive in the morning”.
In terms of drinks, apart from fizzy and still glasses, there will be a range of French and Italian wines on offer. As well as cocktails.

The original side
And if there’s one thing you’ll remember from your time at the restaurant, it sure will be your turn to go to the toilet ! because Amafolia offers trendy outfits that should appeal to social media addicts who can take original photos!
The team has indeed come up with a pink mural with a graffiti artist that covers the entrance to the toilet area of the restaurant. And in three toilets, 3 very different atmospheres await you: a pool atmosphere, a plant atmosphere and an atmosphere… Darth Vader!
And Amafolia he doesn’t want to stop there. From follow-up works are also available from the restaurant. The DJs even have to come and mix from time to time. “We want to bring a bit of a festive atmosphere to the place, we’re going to stretch the evenings out over the weekend. But everything will be done within the limits in which it can be done. »
